The UBC Rowing Team will fly out to St. Catharines, Ont. on Oct. 8 to compete in the 2015 National Rowing Championships. Then, at the end of October, they will travel to Antigonish, N.S. to take part in the 2015 Canadian University Championships.

  The dry highland region surrounding Lake Titicaca spans the border between Peru and Bolivia. On our way to Puno—the largest city on the Peruvian side—our bus was caught in the midst of a large protest. Led by an Aymara mother’s group, local communities blockaded the highway demanding water and food security.

The boy and the sea

Lampuuk, like the entire coast of northwestern Sumatra, was devastated by the tsunami. In this town, an entire generation of school children were nearly wiped out. This is one of the survivors. Despite the trauma, he still spends most of his day in and around the sea fishing, surfing and thinking.
